In September 2004 a group of like-minded surgeons from the Asia Pacific region came together to form the Asia Pacific Hernia Society (APHS). HSI is dedicated to advancing the art and science of treatment of hernias. It fulfils this objective by a) Being an inclusive Association for surgeons from around the country interested in exchange of experiences, ideas, knowledge and skills related to hernia surgery, b) Regularly organising conferences, seminars, symposia, workshops and online virtual webinars and c) Providing continuing educational activities with a focus on postgraduate students and younger surgeons.
